Friday Night’s Meme

Okay, I just sumbled across this one on Emerging Grace. Like the [Your Name] + needs google search, feel free to share your info… or post this on your own blog.

Ten Years Ago
I was single, living in a trailer I affectionately called The Ghetto, teaching in my very own classroom (in a small, rural school) for the very first time, and a youth minister at a medium-sized Baptist Church.

Five Years Ago
I was married, teaching in a large, inner-city-ish school, and licking the wounds that I had received in the church.

One Year Ago
I was the father of a three-year-old and a one-year-old, teaching in a suburban high school, and serving as an associate pastor at a church plant.

Five Yummy Things
The cherry slush with extra sherry stuff from Sonic that my bride(of almost nine years) just handed me
Blue Bell Cookies n’ Cream
Bacon Cheddar Fries with Spicy Ranch from Outback
Hot apple pie
Homemade chicken and dumplings

Five Songs I Know By Heart
Due to my time as a DJ in the late eighties and early nineties, I know more eighties and early nineties pop songs than I care to admit.

Five Things I Would Do With a Lot of Money
Let my bride decorate the house until her heart is content.
Pimp my classroom.
Open a coffee / scrapbook / used book shop. (My bride would insist on the scrapbook part.)
Fly to DC, pick up Pooch, and head to Korea to visit with Spanky.
Hummer in the driveway because it wouldn’t fit in the garage.

Five Places I Would Escape To
The potty closet in our master bath. (Wait… I DO escape there!)
A good book… and sometimes, even a mediocre one.
The computer.
The bookstore.
A nap. (That’s not a place, but if I had said “The bed,” you would have thought naughty things.)

Five Things I Would Never Wear
A Speedo. (You’re welcome.)
That outfit that Ian showed up wearing to small group after he had ridden like 50 miles on his bike.
Anything in a size “small.”
A thong.
Clothes from my dad’s closet. (If you happen to read this… Sorry, Dad. We jut have different tastes.)

    Five Years Ago:
My wife, daughter Charli, and brand new baby Emily were enduring -20°F in Fairbanks, AK. I was still flying Warthogs, but was now teaching young pilots how to be attack pilots.
