On a Lighter Note

Posted by on October 5, 2005

I was re-reading some of my most recent posts, and I realized that I might need to lighten the mood somewhat around here. DeeperWater.com is all about life (mine in particular), and life is sometimes bleak and tiresome, but other times it is joy-filled. In an attempt to lighten things somewhat as well as give the occasional reader the chance to learn more about me, the sometimes author, I offer the following things that I am currently digging:

My family – God has blessed me richly with a wife that is evidence of grace and two beautiful little girls that make me smile more than they will ever know. Many, if not all, of the things I do each day I do for the three women in my life.

Lost – Okay, this is only the greatest show ever produced in the history of broadcast television. Seriously. (For my students who are supposed to be studying for their vocab test this week, the previous statement is not an example of hyperbole.) I mean it… this show rocks. If you don’t believe me, ask my buddy Sam. I let him and his bride borrow my Lost: Season 1 DVDs, and I won’t shame him by telling how many episodes they have been watching at a time.

Survivor: GuatemalaStephenie and Bobby Jon are back! Woo-hoo!

The David Crowder Band – Collision – This CD is absolutely phenomenal. Perhaps their best yet, it is truly an example of aural excellence. To be properly introduced to the CD, click here. To understand why I think I should keep growing my goatee, click here.

Stanhope Elmore High School
– What can I say? I have tried to leave several times over the past three years, but God keeps drawing me back. I am determined more than ever to make the high school experience the greatest possible for my students. I am kicking it up a few notches in several areas. I am going to be trying some new things in the English classroom, and that is always fun. Student Council is going to have one of their greatest years ever, even if they do have to work harder than ever. The kids traveling to London with me in the spring should have a blast…. and I have several other ideas in store. As long as God has me here, I am going to give it all.

Speaking Engagements – Since I am not currently serving a church, finding time to work in som e speaking engagements will be easier than it has been in years. I am currently putting together some information to share with some youth ministers and pastors. If you are interested in having me come and speak at your church let me know. (If you don’t know how to contact me…. just leave a comment here with your contact information. That will go straight to my email, and I won’t publish your info for the world to see.)

Okay, that’s enough for now. After all, I recorded tonight’s episode of Lost onto my DVR, and I can now watch it while skipping the commercials!

Oh my goodness your girls have gotten bigger…they’re so precious!

On a bitter note, I missed Lost tonight. But I did get to see Indelible Grace in concert with Sandra McCracken, so I suppose it all evens out!

Want me to see if I can burn a DVD copy of the episode and mail it? :)
